An extension learning program was organized for the 2nd-year, students B.Sc. Agriculture students, VIT University from Tamil Nadu on February 28, 2025. The session commenced with a warm welcome from Smt. Lakshmi R., the Farm Manager, who introduced the students to the ongoing activities at the KVK Farm in Athur. She provided an insightful overview of the prospects of a coffee-based integrated farming system, highlighting its potential for enhancing and sustaining income.
. Smt. Lakshmi R. elaborated on the propagation of pepper trellises (mother plants) and the production process for single-node pepper cuttings. She also covered the maintenance practices for both pepper and arecanut nurseries. Following this, the students were taken on a comprehensive tour of various farm units, including the piggery, dairy, goatary, poultry, vermicomposting and the farm implements & equipment room.
