A training programme on Soil and Plant Management Strategies in Important Crops of Kodagu District was organized by ICAR-KVK Gonikoppal, Kodagu on 7th November 2024, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture. Shri Dharmaraj, a renowned awardee and progressive planter, participated as a key resource person. During his talk, he shared valuable insights on enhancing productivity in key crops of the region, including coffee, black pepper, arecanut, and cardamom. He also highlighted his own achievement of the highest productivity on his farm, offering practical examples and strategies. His presentation emphasized several key areas, such as the importance of integrated nutrient management, farm certification, recycling of farm waste, shade regulation, and optimal plant management for sustained crop health and productivity.
The programme saw active participation from 85 farmers, farm women, students, and agricultural officials, who engaged in discussions and learned practical approaches to improve soil and plant management in their respective farms. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Prabhakara B, SMS(Hort.) ICAR-KVK Kodagu.
